If you've been busy with the holidays, you might have missed some things taking place around Bonita. With the help of some Common Sense Readers, you're about to find out what you may have not noticed yourself.
A few weeks ago, someone crashed through the barricade at the intersection of Proctor Valley Road and San Miguel Ranch Road.

The first image shows what the barricade looks like when it is intact. The second image is an arial so you can see how far the vehicle traveled to make contact with the barrier. Photo 3 and 4 are self explanatory.
The stop sign on San Miguel Ranch Road was either not observed or possibly ignored.
This is not the first time this has happened. But it causes one to wonder, was the operator of the vehicle driving or flying?
As you may recall, it was very windy during the Christmas Eve storm. Those winds took down an immense Eucalyptus tree on the Chula Vista Golf Course near the Jack in the Box.

The base of that trunk was four feet in diameter and taller than the chain link fence. It was a big one!

By December 30th, that ginormous Eucalyptus had been cut up and hauled away. The root ball hole was filled in, too It was like it was never there in the first place.
The second image shows that dirt was removed from the new dirt piles and most likely used to fill in the downed tree's rootball hole.
Wondering why the existing dirt piles shown in the third image—and available to the golf course— were not used.
Those older dirt piles been there so long weeds are growing. This location is near the golf course maintenance enclosure east of their parking lot.
Yesterday, it was observed that the hillside (on the south side of Sweetwater Road and east of Rohr Park's Gate C) appears to be eroding.

Several sections of the slope are disintegrating and the tree roots are exposed. With rain expected, this cliff could continue deteriorating and may even slip and fall on unsuspecting drivers or bicyclists. Please take note and be extremely cautious when traveling on that segment of Sweetwater Road.
