Letter to the Editor—Toll Road Avoidance Numbers
Hi Susan,
I keep seeing 19,000 vehicles avoiding the toll road in your articles. I believe that number came from the bike lane presentation for Bonita Road. I'm sending you the actual and most recent vehicle counts on San Miguel Road. Traffic study was done in July of 2023.
Monday's survey 7-10-23 (9,595 vehicles) was when Sunnyside Elementary was on summer break . School started back up on Thursday 7-13-23 (10,626 vehicles) and Friday 7-14-23 (10,780 vehicles) survey counts were the first two days back to school. 7-15-23 (11,102 vehicles) was on Saturday.
I hope this helps with future articles stating toll road avoidance vehicle counts.

I wasn't in town on the day of fire but my wife got turned around at Sunnyside Elementary on her way home from work. She took the southerly route home. Corral Canyon Road to H Street to San Miguel Ranch Road to Proctor Valley Road.
