In yesterday's article "Bonita Community Needed in Deciding Future of Rohr Park", I could not locate some of the acreage within Rohr Park and the Chula Vista Golf Course. I asked the question "Can anyone out there provide this missing piece of information?"

Bonita Resident Karen Henry came to the rescue! In case you missed it, here is the information she shared in the comments under the article.

From the public record:

Purchase of Rohr Manor Parcel from Rohr Corporation

City of Chula Vista purchased the 23.25-acre Rohr Manor parcel from Rohr Corporation for $82,000 [File/Page No. 18774 Series 7 Book 1966, Official Records San Diego County, Recorded Feb. 2, 1966.] Said real property was dedicated to public use for park purposes and officially named “Fred H. Rohr Park” on November 22, 1966 [Resolution No. 4250]

Remaining Parcels Given to City of Chula Vista by County of San Diego

Also from the public record: Large parcels to either side of the initial Rohr Manor parcel were given to the City of Chula Vista by the County of San Diego at no cost. [Quitclaim Deed Recorded in Official Records of San Diego County 84-400979, October 24, 1984.]

Said Quitclaim Deed included:

COVENANT OF OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE:

The City of Chula Vista, its successors and assign, covenant that

(1) the above described property shall forever be operated exclusively for public park, amusement or recreational purposes for the benefit and use of all residents of the County of San Diego,

(2) said property shall forever be maintained at a level of maintenance equal to or above that of other improved parks of the City of Chula Vista but in no event shall annual maintenance expenditures for said property be less than sixty thousand dollars ($60,000). Violation of this COVENANT shall entitle the County of San Diego to reenter and repossess the property.

More Than One Parcel

Today's Rohr Park is made up of more than one parcel. The parcel labeled "Rohr Park" is the initial parcel that the City of Chula Vista purchased from Rohr Corporation. The large golf course parcel is owned by the City of Chula Vista and does not appear to be dedicated park according to the public record.
