We Must Restore Law and Order

What happened in Charlotte last month was not just another tragedy—it was a preventable crime that exposes the failure of our current “soft-on-crime” approach.
On August 22, Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian refugee who came to America seeking safety, boarded a train in Charlotte. Moments later, she was brutally stabbed to death by a man with a long criminal history, Decarlos Brown Jr. He had convictions for robbery and larceny, spent years behind bars, and had a well-documented history of mental illness. Yet, despite this record, he was back on the streets, free to victimize an innocent woman.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it: compassion without accountability is not justice. We can’t keep allowing violent repeat offenders to walk free. We can’t keep ignoring the mental health crises that too often fuel these acts of violence. And we can’t let political ideology take precedence over the safety of our communities.
I’m running for Congress to change this. To restore law and order. To make sure that criminals are held accountable and victims are protected. Because every American—whether they’ve lived here their whole lives or just arrived seeking freedom—deserves to feel safe.
This election is about choosing between failed policies that let crime fester and a new direction that prioritizes safety, accountability, and justice. I’m ready to fight for that change, but I need your support.
This never should have happened. But it did—because for too long, politicians like my opponent have supported lax policies that put criminals’ rights ahead of public safety. They’ve championed early releases, reduced penalties, and turned a blind eye to mental health needs. The result is predictable: more crime, more victims, and more shattered families.
