BONITA, CA With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Vivian Sue Bailey—a devoted mother, grandmother and nurse. Known as Susie by many, she spent her life in San Diego. She graduated from Bonita High and Southwestern College before her nursing career at Sharp Chula Vista.

Susie loved romantic dramas, pistachio ice cream and arranging her home with mementos of loved ones. Her greatest love was her family, especially her husband Mike, who passed away far too soon. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Alicia and Ashley.

Susie was a lifelong caregiver, providing round-the clock care for Alicia after a car accident left her in a minimally conscious state for 16 years. Susie provided Alicia with extraordinary care, pursuing every possible treatment with hope and determination.

In recent years, her greatest joy came from her granddaughter, Josie. Susie created a playful nursery and peaceful garden for Josie, where she taught Josie to gather leaves and shake the avocado tree. She brightened when speaking of Josie, or Ashley, whose accomplishments as a mother, student and professional filled Susie with pride.

Susie is survived by her daughter Ashley, granddaughter Josie, father-in-law Mike and living siblings Robert, Jeanette, Marie and Carol. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike and daughter Alicia. Susie will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
