NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL, MUNICIPAL FINANCING AUTHORITY, PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY, AND SUCCESSOR AGENCY TO THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the regular meetings of the Chula Vista City Council, Municipal Financing Authority, Public Financing Authority, and the Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency scheduled for February 3, 2026, at 5: 00 p. m. have been canceled.

The Municipal Financing Authority, the Public Financing Authority, and the Successor Agency to the Redevelopment Agency' s next regular meetings are scheduled for March 3, 2026.

The regular workshop meeting of the Chula Vista City Council scheduled for February 5, 2026, at 4: 00 p.m. has been canceled. The next regular workshop is scheduled for March 5, 2026.

4.1 Consider Adopting a Resolution Affirming the City's Commitment to Individual Rights, Condemning Certain Immigration Enforcement Activities, Waiving Council Policy 102-01, and Directing Flags to be Displayed at Half-Staff

Environmental Notice: The activity is not a “Project” as defined under Section 15378 of the California Environmental Quality Act State Guidelines. Therefore, pursuant to State Guidelines Section 15060(c)(3) no environmental review is required.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Consider adopting a resolution affirming the City’s commitment to safeguarding individual rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, directing the City Manager to sign on to the Welcoming America’s Draw the Line Campaign, condemning certain immigration enforcement activities of the Department of Homeland Security in Minnesota and elsewhere, waiving City Council Policy 102-01 (Flags – Display), and directing the flags being displayed at half-staff through February 17, 2026.

It is of great concern that our city is taking up the cause of opposing law enforcement. It should not even be a topic if not for city council making it a topic in alignment with the welcoming America project which if you do your homework is a pro mass immigration program with the ultimate goal to bankrupt America and her legal rightful citizens. I expect higher standards from our city council and that we insist on following the law and supposing both legal immigration and deportation of those that break that law and are illegally in our country and especially our city. Do your job and stop playing partisan games with the lives of our citizens.

I oppose the resolution and the hypocrisy from the same corrupt councilmembers who walked out on the brief memorial for Charlie Kirk when flags were properly at half mast at city hall.

According to the Resolution document, on November 4, 2025 the City Council unanimously directed the City Manager and City Attorney to prepare a resolution.

CORRECTION: The Resolution was only unanimous between the councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Cesar Fernandez, Carolina Chavez, Jose Preciado and Michael Inunza. Mayor John McCann was not present as he is a Commander in the United States Navy Reserves and had been called to action.
