Maybe It's True That Those Living in Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones

You probably have heard this saying sometime as you were growing up. What does it mean?
This proverb is a warning against hypocrisy. If you dish out criticism while possessing your own flaws, your hypocrisy leaves you vulnerable to having criticism thrown right back at you.
"Throwing a stone inside a glass house will easily break your own windows. Similarly, calling out someone's bad behavior when you do the same thing will ultimately shatter your own reputation. This idiom is closely related to the phrase "the pot calling the kettle black," which also points out the absurdity of condemning someone for a flaw you share."
After reading about the Police Chief's lawsuit in various publications, I started to wonder why these people were throwing stones at her. I read and read and found that nearly 100% of the people writing on the internet were behind Chief Kennedy. Many expressed wonderful thoughts about her and personal experiences. That started in February 2026.
The Police Chief was attacked by several stone throwers but the community supported the Chief.

More recently in August of 2026, the same stone throwers went on attack of Chula Vista Mayor John McCann. For no apparent reason except possible jealousy that he was able to participate in a skydiving event, the Mayor was stripped of operational control which was given to the City Manager. Again, the community supported the Mayor.

Who Are These Stone Throwers?
Defendants named in the lawsuit are against the Police Chief were Chula Vista City Manager Tiffany Allen and Chula Vista City Council members Michael Inzunza, Cesar Fernandez, Carolina Chavez and Jose Preciado.
I decided to do a little investigation on the stone throwers in case you didn't have the time and see if their records are squeaky clean. Here is what I uncovered.

“We are talking about a city of Chula Vista park, not a Bonita park,” said Chula Vista City Councilmember Jose Preciado.
Preciado said his west Chula Vista council district has unmet needs for athletic fields and green space, as does the rest of the city’s comparatively park-poor west side.
“Frankly, I can tell you that Rohr Park could be 50 miles long and it would have problems because of the competing interests,” said Preciado. “A real story that needs to shine a little brighter is how [many] soccer leagues we have in this community versus how many fields we have.”
