"From presidential candidates to electric cowboys — these were the roles that showcased the late, great actor at his finest"—Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone has published his 20 Essential Movies and it's well worth the read.

I would mention that he was a heartthrob but he hated that aspect of stardom. But he was.

Lola Van Wagenen, his first wife, was "the love of his life." They married in 1958 and had four children together. Though they drifted apart and divorced in 1985, they remained close friends. He later married Sibylle Szaggars in 2009.
