San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond announced his campaign for Congress in California’s 48th Congressional District earlier this month.
The U.S. Navy veteran and Republican made the announcement following Congressman Darrell Issa’s retirement on Friday. Representative Issa is endorsing Jim Desmond’s campaign for Congress.
“Today I’m announcing my enthusiastic endorsement of Supervisor Jim Desmond for Congress – to represent California’s new 48th district. Jim is not only a personal friend, he’s a true patriot, a Navy veteran, a successful businessman, and has a 20-year record of public service. He understands this community, was born and raised here, and will make a terrific Congressman.”—Congressman Darrell Issa
Desmond is a resident of the 48th District and a County Supervisor who previously served as Mayor of San Marcos.
“They drew me into the district, but the truth is, I’ve been serving this community for years. I was the Mayor of San Marcos. I raised my family here. I know what’s keeping families up at night: the cost of living, public safety, and a government that too often gets in the way instead of getting things done.”—San Diego County District 5 Supervisor Jim Desmond
The long-time commercial airline captain says his campaign is built on the same principles that have guided his entire career: accountability, duty, and the belief that government should work for the people, not the other way around.
The 48th District encompasses portions of San Diego and Riverside Counties, which include Escondido, Temecula, Vista, San Marcos, Hemet, Palm Springs, Oceanside, and Indian Wells, as well as unincorporated areas in both counties.
