Sunday's Sunnyside Saddle Club Horse Show Canceled?

I headed over to Rohr Park Horse Arena yesterday morning to catch the end of the Sunnyside Saddle Club Horse Show. The arena was empty. And not a horse or horse trailer in sight.

What was going on? Had it been canceled?

There was no activity in the main horse arena.

No one sitting on the bleachers. No one warming-up in the Sunnyside Saddle Club warm-up arena. No one lunging or working out in the Bonita Valley Horsemen round pen. (Kudos to the BVHorsemen for keeping your round pen weed-free!)

Where is everyone? It's like a ghost town, or rather . . . a ghost arena!

Surely there must be a cancellation notice somewhere. Nothing on the community bulletin board.

I walked the entire area. On the building I found a list of Sunnyside Saddle Club Board Members and Volunteers. There's also a list of tie rail/trailer reservations. No cancellation notice.

It was 84°—according to my phone—with a cool breeze blowing. No reason to cancel for heat.

What was going on? Did I mess up the date?

And then I found it. Not a cancellation notice but the permit for the August 2, 2026 horse show that hadn't happened.

It was taped to the north rail of the main horse arena. But no cross-out or cancellation notice beside it. It was like a big NO SHOW.

I drove home and checked their website for an explanation. None found. Just a removal from their 2026 Horse Show Event Dates. No canceled notation next to the date (it had been removed) and no reason given for the empty arena.

The next Sunnyside Saddle Club Horse Show is scheduled for September 20, 2026. That is, if they don't ghost us again!
