Sunday's Horse Show Was Small and Quiet

I rolled out of bed and headed to the Rohr Park Horse Arena around 7:45. The show was to start at 8:00 with the flag ceremony and the Serenity kids were one of the first events. I wanted to be sure to be there and encourage them in their first horse show.

The show got started about 8:15 and that set the mood for the rest of the show. The events stayed consistently about 15 minutes late, but never lagged.

The Serenity kids were scheduled for the first two classes, In-hand and Lead-line.

They were riding two BIG, beautiful Fresians. Below, Fari (the Serenity trainer) is riding Valinte (7) and Jacqueline is riding Shakira (23). Shakira is the mother of Valinte (which means "Brave" in Spanish). Jacqueline Espinoza is the owner and founder of Serenity Bonita GPE Horse & Human Development Center.

The itinerary of classes is shown below. There was something for everyone. I even saw some western saddles in there!

There were 23 classes scheduled. Some classes had more participants than listed and some had less. The classes averaged from 1 - 4 riders.

There were about twelve horses in total. Two were Serenity horses and the other ten were ridden many times in many classes.

This was the parking lot when I left around 10:30 and the bleachers stayed empty throughout the day. This was a smaller horse show. Sitting on the bench are Terri & Jo, SSC members and Dee Dee & Andrea, new boarders at Glen Willow.

When I left, the yellow gate had been closed to prevent entry. I got out to open it and a blue truck whizzed in. Then I drove out and closed it behind me. I don't believe I've ever seen that gate closed before!

The next Sunnyside Saddle Club horse show will be in two weeks. It is scheduled for Sunday, August 2 at 8AM at the Rohr Park Horse Arena.
