Bonita, California has it's own sourdough firewood pizza. . . . thanks to Jorge Gonzalez and Jordi Vives. They're not related but they're in a joint venture . . .San Giorgios Pizza.


San Giorgios: A Name, A Tradition

San Giorgios isn’t possessive—it’s plural, representing two friends who share the same name and a passion for pizza. Jordi was a manager for a famous pizzeria in Barcelona and Jorge is from Monterrey, Mexico where his family has been in the baking industry for 3 generations. They both mountain bike and met riding bicycles. They still ride a lot and they ride everywhere. And lucky for us, they both love pizza.

Where did the idea come from?


"Jordi and I were visiting Sergio’s (Bonita Farmer’s Market owner) property in Alpine, where there is a brick oven. We were fooling around with the idea and we told Sergio that we could make sourdough pizza. Sergio being so generous decided to give us a chance to kick off a joint venture." —Jorge Gonzalez

Right now, San Giorgios Pizza is only open three evenings a week . . . Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 pm until 8 pm. They started out on Saturday and Sunday only—for three hours—and they've already expanded. Eventually, they plan to open more days and more times.




What is the benefit of using sourdough for your crust?

My personal favorite is the Hoser Canuck Pizza. But speaking to other customers, they're all amazingly delicious. If you read the reviews on their website, you'll get the gist of how wonderful this 5-star pizza is and how happy everyone is to have them here in our neighborhood.
