What Areas in Rohr Park are Sprayed with Pesticides?

I hope to be writing an article in the near future about "Pesticides in the Park."

This morning—January 28th—I sent the following email to the Communications Department at the City of Chula Vista with a copy to Park Director Frank Carson.

Hi Mirella . . .

I was wondering if you could answer some questions I'm getting about pesticide spraying in Rohr Park?

Do any of the following areas ever get sprayed? (yes or no)

  • Baseball / Softball fields

  • Soccer fields

  • Basketball courts (edges)

  • Exercise areas (edges)

  • Dog parks

  • Horse arena area

  • Children's playgrounds

  • Walking paths

  • Live Streamers Mini Railroad area

  • Picnic areas

  • Gazebo areas

  • Eucalyptus grove area

  • Parking areas (edges)

  • Horse trails

  • Open areas

How often are they sprayed and with what chemicals?

Could you provide me with a spraying schedule?

What methods are currently used to communicate that spraying has recently occurred?

In the past, was manual labor ever used instead of spraying pesticides? If so, do you know what year?

Thanks for your help.

Best!
