Rohr Park Master Plan Development: What is an Active Community Hub?

The FINAL Rohr Park master plan workshop is THIS THURSDAY. The workshop will be an opportunity to hear staff explain the recommended “new look” for Rohr Park. It will allow those of us who live in the nearby community to ask questions.

What is an Active Community Hub?

Frankly, I’ve been following this master planning process since May and I’m still trying to figure it out. I do know that the City and County public record say that the Chula Vista [Municipal] Golf Course is not part of Rohr Park.

The recommended new vision for Rohr Park and the Chula Vista Golf Course was revealed at an evening event in late September. That Draft Master Plan, illustrated on a display board, was “a lot.” I shared a photograph of the display board and listed the additions in an earlier Sunnyside Common Sense article. As far as I know, this local newspaper is the only place currently to view the Draft Master Plan digitally.

The City of Chula Vista has not publicized this final workshop either. On my walk Friday, I found two posted notices along the golf course/ park trail.

Both were for prior workshops. Yet, the workshop appears on the City of Chula calendar.

As I stated in my article, traffic impacts to Sweetwater Road with this plan would be inevitable. Increased traffic is the price the local community pays for development. This Rohr Park Master Plan is development. And the end of this 6-month public engagement is near. Approval by the City Parks and Recreation Commission is expected on December 11, 2025. City Council Approval would follow shortly thereafter.
