Paloma Aguirre's Morals Called Out Again

Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre is running for San Diego County Supervisor, District 1 against Chula Vista Mayor John McCann.

She must have come to the realization that she will be defeated badly. That is the only explanation I have for her making up fictitious stories about her opponent.

Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre and Chula Vista Mayor John McCann are running for the position of San Diego County Supervisor, District 1. The position has been vacant since January when ex-Supervisor Nora Vargas unexplainably and abruptly walked from her duties. Photos taken by San Diego Union-Tribune.

Yesterday I published "Cheaters Never Prosper", an article I wrote after reading an article in La Prensa written by Arturo Castañares, Editor-At-Large, nearly a week earlier.

Paloma Aguirre had fabricated a story about John McCann being at the center of the 2012 school district wrongdoing. In reality, Mr. McCann was the only sitting Board member not charged with any crimes in the investigation. He was the only good guy in the corruption scandal.

Caught in her own lies, Ms. Aguirre hasn't bothered to retract her comments. She just marches forward.

Now Ms. Aguirre has initiated another public incident causing outrage. She is trying to make John McCann appear unethical when she, herself, is creating these offenses against morality.

"On Wednesday, Aguirre claimed McCann made money from a condo project he voted to approve in 2018 as a member of the Chula Vista City Council. . . The problem with Aguirre’s claim is that the Amara Bay project isn’t even built yet and McCann’s family real estate business has no financial ties to the future project. Period.  Aguirre knows the project isn't built yet so she either blatantly lied about her opponent or she is so out of touch that she is disqualified from serving in public office."— Arturo Castañares, La Prensa Editor-at-Large

I enjoy reading Art Castañares articles because he researches everything throughly before he puts the pen-to-paper, or rather his fingers-to-the-keyboard. He is an honest journalist that investigates his topics in depth. I trust his words.

Ms. Aguirre has created an false image of herself. I feel that she is not only immoral, but also unqualified for the position of Supervisor. She would be a Nora Vargas 2.0 candidate and we all know that Ms. Vargas did nothing good for the District she was supposed to serve.

Mr. Castañares' article appeared June 6, 2025 in La Prensa and was titled "PERSPECTIVE: Paloma Aguirre Lies (Again) About John McCann".
