Hot Paws Caused by Hot Days

ree

Yowzers it's hot out there! Especially on your best friend's tender paws.

The outside air temperature can be deceiving. Concrete may be 17 - 34° hotter than the thermometer reads and asphalt is even worse. It can be a scorching 36 - 49° more on your pet's paws.

Even though it's only 78° outside, that a blazing 114° on your pup's pads.

Press the back of your hand against the pavement for seven seconds. Hot? Try walking barefoot and see how blistering that feels. Try it out on yourself before you subject your pooch to the heat . . . he has no way to tell you it's hurting him.

And never leave your canine (or child) in the car, no matter what. There is no reason in the world to do this. You might as well place him in your microwave oven.

Check this chart out:

Cracking the window isn't a solution. It's still as hot as Hades.

If you love your pet, you'll leave him at home. He'll be happy to see you when you return. And still alive.
