*Because only one candidate qualified for City Attorney, the office will not appear on the June ballot and will instead be listed on the November ballot.

The following mayoral candidates are listed alphabetically by last name.
• Yair Gersten - Public Contracts Manager / Administrative Analyst
• John McCann - Current Mayor of Chula Vista

The Candidate Statements let you know a little about each candidate in their own words. The statements for each candidate appear below.

The City of Chula Vista is the second largest city in the County of San Diego (following the City of San Diego). Chula Vista has an annual growth rate of about 25% and increased from 275,808 in the 2020 Census to over 279,000 residents by 2026.
As such, there are a lot of balls to be kept in the air! It is not Mayberry RFD but a complex, ever-growing municipality that needs a knowledgable mayor and council to keep things in check and moving forward.
Council meetings are scheduled for the first four Tuesdays at 5pm in the Council Chambers. Check out the 03.17.26 Council Meeting Agenda to see all that this group needs to accomplish weekly.
I will be writing future articles on the candidates running for the District 1 and District 2 council seats. Stay tuned!
