The Chula Vista City Council had one of their weekly meetings last night. They typically meet the first four Tuesdays of each month.
The Council consists of Mayor John McCann, Deputy Mayor Carolina Chavez (District 1), and Council members Jose Preciado (District 2), Michael Inzunza (District 3) and Cesar Fernandez (District 4).

Carolina Chavez represents the District 1 area of Chula Vista including Rohr Park and a small swatch around it.
There was a large turnout of people supporting the Rohr Park Horse Arena and keeping it in place. Caught in traffic, I did not arrive until 5:15 PM and I could hear the words "Rohr Park" again and again as I filled out my Request to Speak form and was entered into their computer.
When asked when they thought I would be able to speak, I was told 9 PM. They only allow seven speakers in the first Public Comment section and I was speaker #8. I had been planning to attend the Sweetwater Community Planning Group meeting in Bonita at 7 PM and it's usually over by that time.
As I entered the Chambers, Speaker #6 was at the podium. As the procession of speakers worked their way to the microphone, an announcement was made that an eighth speaker had been added to this session. This change in Agenda would allow me to attend both meetings.
The recording for the 12.02.25 Chula Vista Council Meeting may be accessed by clicking on this link:
The Public Comment session begins at the 10:30 mark. The speeches of people that support the Horse Arena remaining at Rohr Park begin at 13:37 and finish at 27:10. Though only a handful of speakers spoke, there were many supporters in the audience.
After I spoke, the Chamber quickly emptied and I decided to follow along. As I exited the building, I was greeted by horse owners and horse lovers alike . . . congratulating me on my speech. I stayed for another hour, meeting new friends and connecting with old from a time when I was President of Bonita Valley Horsemen. They were not all locals, many traveled from Lakeside and other communities to support Bonita retaining its arena.
Then we all shuffled off, some of us to our next meeting in Bonita. I'll write about that meeting later this week.
As an added note, I found a Public Comment letter regarding the Rohr Park Horse Arena submitted by Bonita resident Stacy Jett.
