The Sweetwater Community Planning Group meeting has been canceled for May so don't show up. The meeting room will be dark and empty.

The notice was stuck up in the window of the Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Department station. It was posted there because that's where the monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Not this Tuesday.

Board members received an email from the Chair informing them that the meeting was cancelled.

This is the first meeting that has been cancelled in quite a while. The only other canceled meeting during Felix Felix's term was August 5, 2025. There have been plenty of meetings in the past that "the show went on" with very little on the agenda.

I spoke during public comments at the April meeting about e-bikes in our neighborhoods and measures I had taken to get dialogues started with community leaders. A conversation with board members ensued about the topic. I requested the subject of e-bikes be put on the May agenda. I also asked for a larger venue so the community could attend and interact.

I guess that idea didn't interest Chair Felix because he decided to cancel the May meeting.

It is unfortunate because an e-bike discussion with the residents fits in so well with the County's Webinar to be held online the following week—Tuesday, May 12th at 6PM. (Click on the webinar link to register.)

The last resident that I can remember making a request to have a subject placed on the agenda was Jesse Connor.

Jesse Connor requested an agenda item for Community Nuisance Noise at either the first or second meeting that Felix Felix chaired. Mr. Felix responded in a positive manner and said he would get it on the agenda.

It was the better part of a year before that subject was addressed.

Though the 07.01.2025 was light in agenda items, Jesse's item was not put on the agenda that meeting or the following August meeting. The August meeting was canceled.

Jesse Connor attended the September meeting and stated that his item had yet to be put on the agenda. Chair Felix said it would be put on the October agenda.

Jesse and the Code Compliance Division both did presentations at the October 7, 2025 SCPG meeting.

6. Presentation on Community Nuisance Noise, associated enforcement challenges, and proposed solutions through stakeholder collaboration- Presented by Bonita-Sunnyside resident, Jesse Conner.

7. Code Compliance on Noise and Other Misc. Ordinances- Presented by Chief, Departmental Operations Code Compliance Division, Conor McGee and Code Compliance South County Supervisor, Miguel Caballero.

After the October meeting, Jesse Connor organized his own meeting on December 10th, 2025 to further discuss Community Nuisance Noise. He invited Sheriff Lieutenant Chris Galve and SD County Chief, Dept. Operations Code Compliance Division Connor McGee and County staff; board members from the SCPG and several Bonita-Sunnyside residents with Community Nuisance Noise problems. That first meeting was successful with many positive results.

It is anticipated that a second meeting will be held soon.
