Bonitafest is Celebrating Its 54th Year!

Between September 5 and 26, you'll want to get yourself over to the Bonita Museum & Culture Center for a stroll down 54 years of Bonitafest history.

"Now in its 54th year, Bonitafest has been bringing residents together to celebrate history and build community since 1973. Posters, photos, textiles, videos, and artifacts from our collection chronicle this celebration through the decades."—Exhibition curated by Museum Archivist Sarah Lewis

Here's the flyer for the September 5-26 exhibition.

Bonitafest got its start way back in 1973. What were you doing in 1973? Here is the very first poster.

A photo labeled 1980 shows four girls in their Bonitafest t-shirts. Recognize anyone?

I recognize the Farrah Fawcett hairstyle that three of them are rocking. Farrah was the IT girl in 1976 so this photo may be slightly older than labeled.

Bonitafest had a lot of events going on in the late 1990s. You can view some of them below.

These are just a few of the photos and artifacts from over 50+ years.

Be sure to stop by the Bonita Museum to see this fascinating walk-down-history.

The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10AM to 4PM. If may be found at 4355 Bonita Road, across Bonita Road from the local Vons store.
