We are very excited to have a special guest speaker, Georgeanne Irvine, and Pam Fein, Senior Gift Officer, Philanthropy Dept. of the San Diego Zoo.

Georgeanne Irvine with Omeo, a baby koala
Our guest speaker, Georgeanne, has devoted her career to raising awareness about animals and wildlife conservation. Her worldwide expeditions have taken her to many of the wildest places on earth – from the jungles of Borneo and South America to the mountains of China and the forests of India to the Outback of Australia and the savannas of Africa.
She is the director of publishing for SD Zoo Wildlife Alliance where she has worked for 46 plus years, as well as the author of nearly 30 children’s books about animals, including the award-winning Hope and Inspiration collection. Her Hope & Inspiration collection features true stories about individual animals from the SD Zoo and SD Zoo Safari Park that have overcome challenges in their lives.

Her newest books, Teaching Tornero, the true story of a sloth superstar and Amazing Omeo, a baby koala’s true story of survival debuted in 2023 and recently won prestigious Benjamin Franklin awards,-- a gold and silver – presented by the Independent Book Publishers Association.
