Remember Ernesto Castañeda? He was the representative for Nora Vargas when she was still our County Supervisor, District 1. You might recall his friendly face and helpful demeanor at SCPG and SVCG meetings.
When Nora slipped away into the night, her entire staff was left without employment. I was even told that they were not informed before her resignation and her blunt departure was a shock as much to her employees as to the residents she "represented."

Many of us worried about the fate of Ernesto Castañeda. Ernesto was soft-spoken, polite, intelligent and would go out of his way to help you in any way that he could.
I am happy to inform you—if you hadn't already heard—that Ernesto landed on his feet.
He was picked up by Assemblymember David Alvarez as a field representative.
"I'm personally thrilled to introduce the newest member of our team, Ernesto Castañeda. I’ve seen Ernesto’s dedication to our community firsthand during his work with the County, and I know his passion for public service is exactly what our district deserves. His deep, binational roots in National City and the Cali-Baja region give him a perspective that is essential to serving everyone in AD80. With his policy background from UC San Diego and his hands-on experience, he's ready to hit the ground running for you. Please join me in giving him a warm welcome!"—Assemblyman David Alvarez, District 80
You will see Ernesto when he attends Sweetwater Community Planning Group meetings or Sweetwater Valley Civic Group meetings.
