Unwanted Commercial Projects

The neighbors on Dory Drive are not happy about some newly-proposed nearby construction. All four homes bordering the property line with the Nectar Restaurant property located at 5202 Bonita Road have swimming pools.

The owner of the Nectar Restaurant is not only reconstructing the old La Finca Restaurant, his plans show that he intends to build a two-story commercial building with the middle section hosting a roof-top bar. Those homes bordering that commercial property would most likely lose all privacy in their backyards and swimming pools.

So they had signs made and put them up on the outside of their fences.

The owner of the Nectar Restaurant tore their signs down because they offended him. That incident was followed by a Code 488 for Petty Theft being filed with the police.

With their signs gone, the neighbors decided to put up new signs. This time they placed them inside their fences and high above.

The Nectar neighbors are not against the new restaurant. They've been supporting restaurants at that location for years.

They're against the proposed two-story building to be built along Bonita Road. It nestles along the residential side of the property rather than the commercial side (7-Eleven).

The Sweetwater Community Planning Group will most likely be reviewing the plans at their February 2026 meeting.
