Three Supervisors Trying to Overturn Voters' Decision to Limit Terms to Two—Final Board Vote June 25th

In 2010, San Diego County voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition B. That proposition was to limit San Diego County Supervisors to two 4-year terms, allowing them to serve for eight years.
That was sixteen years ago.
Now, three of the five Supervisors are trying to reverse that decision.

Supervisors Lawson-Remer, Aguirre and Montgomery Steppe don't want to leave after their two terms are completed, they want to stay longer. The three voted yes to removing term limits and putting it on the ballot to make it happen.
The other two Supervisors voted no and would like to abide by the people's decision of allowing Supervisors to serve for two terms.

Supervisors Anderson and Desmond have accepted that their terms have been completed and are moving on. Supervisor Joel Anderson is running for the office of County Treasurer-Tax Collector. Supervisor Jim Desmond is running for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent California's 48th Congressional District.
The Board of Supervisors will vote one more time this Thursday, June 25th. If that vote is successful, it will be put on the ballot. The Supervisors who would benefit are the ones pushing this.
The fact that they are even trying to accomplish this should be a HUGE wakeup call to us all.

There are three ways that you can help stop this from getting on the ballot:
Show up. The Board meets Thursday, June 25th at 9AM at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego. Public comment is your right and you should use it. There is no stronger message than a room full of people who are paying attention.
Write in. Email the Clerk of the Board before Thursday and tell them you oppose extending Supervisor term limits.
Call in. Leave the same message. It takes two minutes.

Let your voice be heard.
Two terms (eight years) is an adequate length of time to get things accomplished.
We voted term limits in sixteen years ago. The Board of Supervisors should not be reversing the people's vote for their own self-interest. Remember, they work for us (not the other way around).
