The Consequences of Open Borders

The crimes we’ve seen in San Diego this past week are nothing short of horrific.
A three-time deported Mexican illegal alien and convicted pedophile was found living in an at-home daycare. His record includes sex offenses against a child under 14, sexual battery, robbery, and gun charges.
A Guatemalan illegal alien with convictions for robbery, burglary, battery, theft, and DUI was arrested.
Another, from Vietnam, with a violent record that includes burglary, robbery, and cruelty to a child, was taken into custody.
These are not just statistics — these are dangerous criminals who were living among us. And they should have never been here in the first place.

Over the past four years, millions of people have poured across our border, unvetted. We don’t know who most of them are, and now we are living with the consequences. Families in San Diego and across the country are paying the price for reckless border policies that put politics ahead of public safety.
California’s sanctuary laws make the problem worse, shielding violent criminals instead of protecting law-abiding citizens. It’s time to return to common sense: no more protecting criminals who are here illegally. Public safety must always come first.
I’ll continue to fight for a secure border, to support our law enforcement officers, and to keep San Diego families safe.
