SVP Placement in Julian Stopped

Last month, I informed you that there was a proposed placement of a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) in the unincorporated community of Julian. After receiving this news, it was amazing to see so many residents stand united to protect our public safety.

Thank you to the more than 1,300 (!) constituents that signed on to my letter to Judge Fraser urging him to stop this placement. We worked together to ensure our community's voice was heard. We were just informed that the proposed Julian site has been withdrawn from consideration.

The following update was just posted on San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan's website.

Liberty Healthcare/CONREP has proposed that Mr. Snavely be placed at a fixed residence. A public placement hearing is calendared for March 7, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in Department 2002 before the Honorable Judge Jeffrey F. Fraser. The fixed residence proposed in Julian has been officially withdrawn. Mr. Snavely has filed a motion for transient release.

As you can see from this statement, this is not over and on Friday the Court will hear a motion for Snavely's transient release. As your Supervisor in the Second District, I will continue to stand firm against any SVP placements in our communities, including transient releases.
