STOP! A friendly reminder many trails across San Diego County are closed throughout August due to dangerously high temperatures. These closures are in place to protect hikers from the serious risks of heat-related illness and injury.
Before heading out, be sure to check current conditions with Cleveland National Forest and San Diego County Parks. Since the first day of summer, firefighters on engines have responded to 34 rescues and Gillespie Helitack has responded to 30 hoist rescues across San Diego County, highlighting just how dangerous the trails can be in high heat.
Heat is no joke. Listen to the closures, respect the warnings, and help us keep everyone safe out there!
