SB 79 Update . . . In Suspense

At today's Appropriations Committee hearing, SB 79 was placed in what is called the "suspense file," which means that it will be handled with hundreds of other bills next Friday, August 29 ("Suspense Day").
As the scope of SB 79 has become more apparent, the bill's authors and supporters have tried to downplay its potential impacts rather than address its significant flaws.
In response to this obstinacy, the Los Angeles City Council took an important vote yesterday to oppose SB 79.
If you didn't get a chance to call the members of the Appropriations Committee this week, your calls can still make a difference on this Suspense vote.
