1. The Tijuana River crisis is getting more attention on a broader stage—which is very good. Our community is past the breaking point. We can’t afford any more delays. The more people we have talking about this crisis the higher chance we have for garnering support and help from leadership at all levels of government, especially in Sacramento. It’s time to treat this like the disaster it is and declare a state of emergency now. Read the story here.

2. I had a wonderful and informative tour of District 2 with Supervisor Joel Anderson. While District 1 and District 2 are on opposite ends of San Diego County, we share a vital mission: ensuring our most underserved communities become hubs of opportunity. Read the story here

3. In late April, the Board voted to launch a San Diego County Film Initiative, the first step toward creating a County Film Office and Film Commission to bring major film and TV productions, and the jobs that come with them—back to our region. Read the story here.

4. The cost of living in San Diego too high. At the county, we are exploring ways to help people save by taking a closer look at the fees we all pay. We can’t eliminate them all—but we can do better. One way we can do that is by increasing affordable parking at county facilities in downtown San Diego. Read the story here
