I thought you might like to see a comparison of the last two supervisors we had in District 1. Greg Cox served from 1995 to 2020 (25 years) and was followed by Nora Vargas serving from 2020 to 2024 (4 years).

The grading system looks like this:

A Excellent

B Good

C Average

D Poor

F Failing

Greg Cox

Nora Vargas

Communication with residents

A

D

Responding to phone messages

A

F

Responding to emails

A

F

Working on District 1 needs

A

F

Improving District 1 resources

A

F

Showing respect to residents

A

D

Arriving on time to meetings with community

A

D

Listening to constituents' concerns

A

F

Good custodian of funds

A

F

Professionalism

A

F

Completing term of office

A

This is strictly my opinion of what I witnessed during the two Supervisor's term(s). It was like day and night, total opposites.

I tried to be kind in rating Ms. Vargas but I feel that she never performed above a failing level. She was just not prepared for the job. She did not seem to understand that a Supervisor's main objective is to protect and enhance the community and to work with the residents to satisfy neighborhood needs. Maybe it should be a prerequisite that Supervisors must have already served in a Mayoral position so they know the ins and outs of running a county district.

I hope that the residents vote and that they vote for a Greg Cox 2.0 candidate and not a Nora Vargas 2.0 candidate in the upcoming June/July 2025 election. A community can only survive so much.
