Oops! . . . I Did It Again

In her rush to abase her opponent Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, it appears that Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre got it all wrong. She accused Mr. McCann of requesting then-President Trump for a pardon when it was in fact nothing more than a reduction of a prison term which half had already been served.

Ms. Aguirre appears to be desperately grasping at straws in her attempt to beat her opponent in any way that she possibly can. She's been caught several times in a lie, as if trying to find some way to win when nothing she chooses seems likely to work.
"A candidate’s lawsuit filed against the City of Chula Vista just two weeks before an election is legally premature and seems politically motivated to damage her opponent." — Arturo Castañares
At the time of Mr. McCann's request, he was still a Chula Vista City Council member. His colleagues had chosen him to be the Deputy Mayor at that time, filling in when the real Mayor was absent from a meeting.
Mr. McCann served four 4-year terms on the City Council before being elected Mayor in 2022.
He supported the reduced sentence at the request of the woman's brother who—like Mr. McCann—had graduated from Bonita Vista High School.
And then the web becomes even more entangled.
"Chula Vista City Attorney Marco Verdugo has recused himself from dealing with the lawsuit because he has endorsed Aguirre in her election against McCann, and Verdugo also shares the same political consultant with Aguirre." — Arturo Castañares
I highly recommend you read Arturo Castañares' riveting "Aguirre Uses Political Lawfare Against McCann."
Mr. Castañares, Editor-at-Large at LaPrensa, is known for throughly researching his subject matter and this article is no exception.
