Motorcyclist Crashes While Attempting to Evade CHP on I-8

On Friday night, August 1st, 2025, around 10:00 PM, a motorcyclist attempting to evade a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer crashed near the I-8 and Lake Murray Boulevard interchange.
CHP officers initially spotted the motorcycle racing on the freeway and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, no pursuit was initiated, and officers soon lost sight of the rider.
Shortly after, the motorcyclist collided with a vehicle before slamming into the center divide. The rider then slid across the freeway, suffering injuries in the process.
Emergency crews responded and transported the rider to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, including significant road rash.
CHP is currently investigating the incident and determining what charges may be filed. DUI is also being considered as part of the investigation.
