A man was caught on video riding on the back of a moving U-Haul truck Sunday morning along the northbound 125 Freeway near the 94 split, raising serious safety concerns.
The cell phone video, submitted by a follower, was recorded around 11:00 a.m. and shows the man holding a small guitar in his left hand while gripping the trailer with his right. It’s unclear whether the man was intentionally hitchhiking or if he had jumped onto the vehicle at some point during its route.
The incident took place in Spring Valley, and no emergency calls were made at the time, according to the California Highway Patrol’s El Cajon office.
Authorities have not identified the individual, and it’s unknown how long he remained on the vehicle or whether he exited safely. While the full context is unclear, officials emphasize that riding on the exterior of a moving vehicle is extremely unsafe and could have led to serious injury or worse.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact CHP.
