Last Sunday's Car Fire Closed Down Coronado Bridge

Coronado Bridge was closed on August 3, 2025 while firemen from the Coronado Fire Department extinguished a car fire. Not just any car . . . a 1957 Chevy.
This classic car was headed across the bridge into Coronado when it caught on fire. No one was injured.
From the Nixle notification I received on my phone, the fire began at 2 or 2:15 on Sunday afternoon. Inbound traffic was delayed another 20-30 minutes after the first notice and the bridge was reopened at 3:02pm.
Everything was cleaned up and the traffic was moving again just in time to get to the "Concert In The Park". This well-known concert series takes place weekly in Spreckels Park during the summer months.
It's heart-wrenching to see this beautiful car destroyed.
