San Diego, Calif. — October 7, 2025 — A late-night pursuit involving a group of high-speed motorcyclists performing stunts on Interstate 8 ended with one suspect in custody after a dramatic chase across multiple jurisdictions.
According to the California Highway Patrol, four motorcycles were seen speeding and performing dangerous maneuvers eastbound on I-8 before exiting at College Avenue. CHP officers attempted to make a traffic stop near the College area, but the riders made a sudden U-turn and fled westbound on the freeway.
San Diego Police Department’s helicopter, ABLE, quickly joined the pursuit, tracking one of the riders as he raced north toward Miramar and then back south toward downtown San Diego. Both CHP and SDPD units transitioned to “tracking mode” from the air to minimize risk to other motorists.
The chase came to an end when the rider pulled into a gas station. As ground units approached, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was tackled in the middle of the street. Officers recovered a firearm from the suspect during the arrest.
Authorities say the rider will face multiple charges, including felony evading and weapons violations. The other motorcyclists remain at large as the investigation continues.
