Firefighters to the Rescue!

Not every rescue involves fire, smoke, or flashing lights.
Earlier today, Engine 238 was dispatched to a report of a cat stuck in a vent. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that Kai, the family's adventurous Persian cat, had somehow found his way into the concealed space between the second and third floors of the home.
After a thorough search, neither the family nor firefighters could determine how Kai had entered the enclosed area in the first place. Like many cats, he wasn't interested in explaining himself.
With no obvious access point available, firefighters removed a recessed can light from the ceiling and began negotiations. Armed with treats, patience, and a few encouraging words, the crew eventually convinced Kai to make his exit.
A short time later, Kai emerged through the ceiling opening and was safely caught by Firefighter/Paramedic Trevor Magnett before being reunited with his very relieved family.
Kai was uninjured, the family was happy, and firefighters were left with one unanswered question: How did he get up there in the first place?
