One hundred percent of the votes from the First Supervisorial District Special Primary Election have been counted. Only 17.8% of the voters turned out to vote in person or mail in their ballot.
The race was between seven candidates. The top candidate needed to receive 50% of the votes or a runoff election would be scheduled for July 1, 2025.
John McCann almost made it as our new District 1 Supervisor with 42.38% of the vote. Paloma Aguirre trailed McCann with 32.33% of the vote. These two mayors will be the candidates for the runoff election.

Whoever wins the runoff will be our Supervisor for the next four years. This is important as we want to choose the candidate who will respond to our needs and not just follow their own agenda.
Stay tuned to Sunnyside Common Sense as I will try to publish items that will help you learn more about each candidate.
Most importantly, get out and vote in this paramount election. Encourage your friends and neighbors to vote in the July runoff!
