Fighting to Keep the American Dream Alive

For generations, the American Dream has been symbolized by a front porch and a white picket fence — not because of the fence itself, but because of what it represents: ownershipfreedom and the chance to build a better life.

Homeownership isn’t just about having a roof over your head. It’s proof that through hard work, you can change your destiny. It’s the foundation on which families build wealth, neighborhoods grow stronger, and communities thrive. But today, that dream is slipping away for millions of Americans.

  • Owning a home has never been less affordable. A median-priced home now eats up more than a third of the average wage.

  • Three out of four households can’t afford to buy a median-priced home.

  • The median age of a homebuyer has jumped from 31 in 1981 to 56 today.

  • Nearly 40% of Gen Z believes they’ll never own a home.

This isn’t just a statistic — it’s a national crisis. Young families feel locked out, while Wall Street firms and foreign investors buy up homes in bulk. Working Americans can’t compete with billion-dollar corporations.

For decades, homeownership was a ladder to the middle class. Now, too many young Americans see it as a wall they can’t climb. If we allow that to continue, we risk losing not just economic opportunity, but the spirit of independence that defines this country.

In Congress, I will fight to restore that dream. That means:

  • Prioritizing working families and first-time buyers over foreign and institutional investors.

  • Increasing housing supply responsibly — without overregulation that drives up costs.

  • Protecting property rights so families can build and pass on real generational wealth.

  • Fighting inflation and out-of-control taxes that make saving for a home nearly impossible.

Every American deserves a fair shot at owning a piece of this country — not just the wealthy and well-connected. This isn’t about nostalgia; it’s about defending the promise of America for the next generation.

I’m in this fight because I believe the American Dream is worth saving.
