Feeding Reading — An Altrusa Club Act of Kindness

ree

"I wanted to share the attached flier with you; it’s a passive service project for Altrusa.

If you buy Kellogg's cereal, you can earn free books, which Altrusa is collecting and donating to Mi Escuelita Preschool (a local school for children victimized by domestic violence, either physically themselves or by witnessing it, all of which causes mental and emotional suffering).

Some of our members don’t eat cereal and opt to donate the Kellogg's products they buy, which we use to stock the shelves of the JAG Kitchen at Southwestern College, which benefits students experiencing food insecurity.

For example, at Vons this week, there’s a promotion for Kelloggs cereal at $1.99.  If you buy six boxes for $12, you can participate in the Feeding Reading program and earn six free book credits.  The flier outlines all of the steps to upload the receipt and claim the book rewards.  There’s a limit of 10 books per person.  I’m happy to pick up any that Optimists want to donate." —Elizabeth Cox
