Fast Moving Wildfire Burning in Lakeside

Lakeside, CA (June 17, 2025) — A fast-moving wildfire, dubbed the #MonteFire, has burned through 312 acres near the 15000 block of El Monte Road in Lakeside, prompting expanded evacuation orders and a major response from fire crews.
The blaze was first reported at 2:24 p.m. and has rapidly spread due to hot, dry conditions and rugged terrain. CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire reports 0% containment as of Tuesday evening.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has issued an EVACUATION ORDER for residents near El Cajon Mountain, with warnings to leave immediately. Interactive evacuation maps are available at:
