Investing in Stability
Once someone loses their home, the path back is steep—often twice as hard and twice as expensive as keeping them housed in the first place. We see this every day, especially among veterans who face added barriers like service-related disabilities or complex credit histories. That’s why prevention has to be our focus. I’m grateful to Senator Catherine Blakespear for securing $1.67 million for San Diego County’s Homeless Prevention Landlord Incentive Program, which helps us stabilize families before they fall into crisis.
In 2025, the program supported 243 households and partnered with 186 landlords. If you’re a landlord in San Diego County, I invite you to join us in this partnership to provide safe, dignified housing to families, seniors, and veterans.
