Hmmmm, isn't that interesting. This was the title of a recent article written by Lisa Halverstadt of the Voice of San Diego. Curious title so read a little further:

"San Diego County’s full-time chief pharmacy officer also works as a partner at a New York-based law firm that advises pharmaceutical companies."—Lisa Halverstadt, Voice of San Diego

I believe that this is called a "conflict of interest" (a situation in which a person is in a position to derive personal benefit from actions or decisions made in their official capacity). This definitely points to a strong indication that some funny business might be going on.

Ms. Halverstadt begins her article stating "The county of San Diego’s chief pharmacy officer, who collects a $232,419 yearly salary, moonlights as a partner at a New York-based law firm that advises pharmaceutical companies.

County officials refused Voice of San Diego’s request for disclosure documents that county staff must submit about outside work or other activities that may conflict with their county duties."
