Public Safety Forum:
What We Heard and Next Steps

Dear Bonita-Sunnyside and Chula Vista Neighbors,
Last week, I hosted the Bonita-Sunnyside and Chula Vista Public Safety Forum in partnership with Chula Vista Councilmember Carolina Chavez and the Sweetwater Valley Civic Association. We were joined by representatives from the California Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Office, Chula Vista Police Department, Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Protection District, and County departments.
Thank you to everyone who attended and shared their concerns, ideas, and experiences.
For those who were unable to join us, here are some of the key topics discussed:
Traffic Safety & Infrastructure: Residents highlighted concerns about speeding, dangerous intersections, and safety around school zones.
E-Bike & E-Motorcycle Safety: Discussion focused on promoting safe and responsible use through school-based safety education, parent outreach, and community awareness efforts.
Maintenance, Parking & Community Services: Residents raised issues related to parking, street sweeping, drainage maintenance, wildfire prevention, and other quality-of-life concerns.
What's Next?
My office will continue coordinating with law enforcement partners and County departments on key concerns raised by residents, including targeted enforcement efforts on identified roadways, safety outreach and education, and follow-up on specific community issues.
For more information or to share additional concerns, you can reach out to my Bonita-Sunnyside and Chula Vista representative, Marianne Delatorre, at (858) 221-2875.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our community.
Warmly,
Paloma Aguirre
San Diego County Supervisor, District One
