At last evening's Sweetwater Community Planning Group meeting—Item 6 of the agenda—the County of San Diego processed a request to vacate portions of Quarry Road and Sweetwater Road as conditioned by PDS for their (MUP-21-009) project.
In other words, the County was asking for the portion of Quarry Road where it meets Sweetwater Road to be changed to a more perpendicular position for safer egress and ingress. These streets will be supporting more traffic once the Secure Self-Storage project is completed.
Boardmember Stephen Stonehouse spoke against the item and asked other boardmembers to vote against the item. Below is a copy of Mr. Stonehouse's exact words:

This comment had a serious effect on the Board as many members joined Boardmember Stonehouse in voting against the proposal. It narrowly passed and the existing Quarry Road was vacated for the new design.
Below are the three handouts given by County staff.

No timeline was given for the new Quarry Road design to be completed. Most likely, it will be the "crowning glory" after the road is void of construction vehicles.

Quarry Road street vacation was the only Sweetwater Community Planning Group agenda item that required a vote last night. The planning group has 15 members. Were all members in attendance? How did each member in attendance vote?
