When my friends invited me to take a trip to "Trumper's", I had no idea what it was or where it was. I was just along for the ride.

We drove up this past Saturday (it's only open on Saturdays and Sundays) and the scenery was beautiful as we winded down country roads in truly bucolic surroundings. You could miss this little shack in a blink of an eye and we did, and had to turn around.

Though small (it's a shack!), they managed to pack so much good stuff inside that you soon forget how tiny it is. They definitely made the most of their space. Once you started to look around, you were hooked!

There was every kind of raw honey imaginable and a sampling table so that you could try it all. As a beekeeper myself, my girls produce wildflower honey, day in and day out. At Trumper's, the range is wide for taste and many don't taste like you would expect. Favorites are Beekeeper and Buckwheat (high in antioxidants) and for the brave: Habanero honey.

They also have locally made jams, olives, and jerky. I picked up some Plum Jam and some Apple Butter Jam. I wanted to take the entire shelf but I restrained myself.

For the Jerky connoisseur, flavors included duck, python, goose, buffalo, alligator and many others!

Sandy and Neil were working the register and they were the kindest, most knowledgable people you'd ever care to meet. The minute you walked in the door, they felt like family. Apparently this shop has been open since 1940 and owned by the same family the entire time.
