3 Mules Looking for a New Mule

John Sears (or "Mule" as he prefers) is working to establish a trail system—an alternative to sitting in a machine traveling at a high rate of speed—as he walks up and down the state of California.

As he travels, he usually collects a following and people often help him out in various ways.
I met Mule along Bonita Road in Bonita, CA many, many years ago. He had three mules then. Sometimes he has three, sometimes two and sometimes one. No matter how many mules he has, he keeps walking . . . about 50 miles a day or until he and the mules need a break.
When I came across Mule, he and the mules were just settling in for the night. The mules were grazing and Mule was preparing his evening meal over a small flame. We spoke for a bit and then I gave him some cash to ease his journey.
He's been walking about forty plus years now. He posted a request today for a replacement mule.
After three plus years, Rosie hasn't adapted to the urban landscape and is a bit skittish. A lot of people commented that they wanted her and some of them have Mule's previous mules.
The story of 3 Mules is an interesting one. The Daily Mail (UK) did a full story on Mule way back in 2013—"Mule man has been walking across America with animals for 30 years."
