250 Children Participate in SHREDFest Event at Rohr Park

Over 250 children, ages 3-10, participated in the 2026 SHREDFest on May 2, 2026. Some were so tiny that they had no pedals on their bikes!

Formerly known as Sprockets, this fun-filled activity took place at Rohr Park and was hosted by the San Diego Mountain Biking Association. Former SDMBA President, Susie Murphy, was present at the event.

Bonita Valley Horsemen joined in the festivities for the fourth year in a row. BVH Members Dennis Avalos and Daryl Hern taught the youngsters the importance of good manners and respect on the trail. The Horsemen's goal was to influence young kids and their parents and educate them about trail courtesy.

SDMBA ran the kids through all types of trail obstacles and taught the little ones safe biking.

Bonita resident, Carmen Luna, organized the event and has coordinated bike-riding events with small children in the past.

Her next event will be a bike ride with about ten young bike riders. It starts at 2:30 on Friday, May 22. Meet at Rohr Park Horse Arena and join up with BVH horses and goats!
